This design by Dirk Fowler is a good example of an effective use of figure ground relationship. Dirk creates a stong sense of depth by making the negative space of the clouds appear to overlap the text. He does this by simply removing the shape of the clouds from the bottom of the test. The clouds appear to be in front of the sky with the tractor and text nestled inside of them.
